Who we are & what we do…

The Wheaton Thunderettes are the Poms/Dance team of Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. (Read more about Wheaton College here).

The Thunderettes were formed in 2007 by a group of students who desired to use their talents for poms & dance in a way that was glorifying to God and supportive of the college. Since then, the Thunderettes have grown to be a staple of a handful of home Football and Basketball games each season.

In 2010, the team changed their name from Wheaton Poms to the Wheaton Thunderettes (in reference to the college’s mascot, the Thunder), and have been flourishing ever since! This year’s team consists of 12 dancers, freshmen through seniors, from across the country who dedicate three days a week (sometimes more!) to practicing together and performing as a team.

The Thunderettes practice in the Wheaton College SRC Dance Room, located above the pool. Practices run for about 2 hours, 3 times/week, with additional practices as needed. The team’s season starts in August and continues through mid-March.

Auditions for the Thunderettes take place on campus each fall in August. If you are interested in trying out for our 2011-2012 season, please contact us here.
